Wake up Edinburgh City Council. There’s a growing local campaign to challenge a development application before you. Does Edinburgh really need another luxury hotel? Many locals don’t think so. What they want is a home for their beloved music school.

Led by Edinburgh artist Domenica More Gordon, famous for her delightfully illustrated Archie children’s book series, Gordon has teamed up with St Mary’s School of Music to create a campaign that is both charming and clever. And they have turned to social media to spread their call to action. But they have an uphill battle.  They are the Davids in a David and Goliath stoush.

What these locals want is a new home for the Scottish National School of Music and their voice is growing. Even as far as the antipodes.

Edinburgh City Council, when you have this sort of talent on your doorstep, it’s precious. A national treasure. You really do need to wake up.
